I am a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and EcoGothic researcher with over 15 years of experience in glassmaking. My work merges glass, sculpture, and environmental inquiry to explore the delicate relationship between nature, human impact, and resilience in the face of industrial development. I’m deeply inspired by the EcoGothic, a framework that examines the dark consequences of unchecked industrialization and ecological degradation, drawing connections between the eerie landscapes of Gothic literature and the urgent realities of climate change.
Through glass, I challenge traditional perceptions of nature, often focusing on the fragility and strength of botanical life. I aim to capture the beauty and vulnerability of these forms, freezing their fleeting moments in time, while reflecting on the broader impacts of human-driven environmental damage. My practice not only critiques these issues but also seeks to explore creative solutions that draw on local traditions and knowledge.
I serve as the program coordinator for the glass department at Mulranny Arts in County Mayo and run my own glass brand, LooLooGlass. I’m currently collaborating with Glas restaurant at Hotel Doolin, integrating my craft into the restaurant’s 30-mile menu concept, a project that fuses locally sourced cuisine with sustainable glass art.
With an MFA in Art & Ecology from Burren College of Art and a BFA in Sculpture/Glass from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, my work has gained international recognition, including the 2024 Jutta Cuny-Franz Talent Prize and the Sculpture in Context Goodbody Award. I exhibit globally, driven by a passion for sustainability, community engagement, and merging my glass art with ecological research and education. Through my practice, I aim to spark conversations about our relationship with the environment and inspire creative, sustainable approaches to the future.
